Paint corkboard for an instantly creative update to an otherwise drab room! Stick your favorite photos, postcards, and posters into the cork with pushpins for a ready-made gallery that you can change at any time. Bonus: it won't even hurt your walls because you'll attach it with masking and double stick tape that won't mess with the paint job.

What You'll Need:
  • 2 packs of 12"x12" corkboard panels
  • 2 quarts of paint
  • 1 paintbrush
  • Double-sided foam tape
  • Double-sided masking tape

Directions:

  1. Choose the four colors you want to use in the project. Pick one darker color and its lighter version (for example, indigo and lilac), plus two accent colors.
  2. Go to a hardware store and buy two packs of 12"x12" corkboard panels (a pack of four is about $12-16) and small tins or tubes of acrylic paint in the four colors of your choice. You'll need about two quarts of paint total to cover eight squares, so you can either buy white flat-finish paint in quarts and custom mix your own colors, or just use multiple pre-made pots.
  3. When you get home, give each square at least two coats of paint on one side, making sure to cover the corners and edges. You may need to use more paint to cover the cork when working with lighter colors.
  4. Once the panels have dried thoroughly, flip them over to the unpainted side and attach the double-sided foam tape that comes with the squares in each corner. Then, apply double-sided masking tape along the edges to ensure it will stay put.
  5. Apply the squares to the wall at eye level in two rows so that there's no space between the panels. (You may want to lay them out first to make sure you like where each color is slated to go.)
  6. Hang your favorite artwork on the panels using pushpins, or just let your fun new hues speak for themselves!
